He sold guitars under a number of labels including Sadao Yairi, Yairi Gakki, S. Yairi, and Sada Guitar. Sada also manufactured guitars for Lowden, B&M (distributed in the UK), Sherry-Brener, and a few guitars for Alvarez of St.

Louis Music during the early 1970s. He went bankrupt in the late 1980s. During the early 1990s, he moved to S. Korea and had a line of handmade guitars sold by Samick.

He passed away in the late 1990s. I’ve written a couple of detailed posts about Sada Yairi, his relationship with Kazuo Yairi, and a comparision of Sadao Yairi’s guitars with Kazuo Yairi guitars. Hi Mike: I believe that the model 650 had mahogany back and sides and a rosewood fingerboard. Is that correct? Is the top spruce or cedar? What year is your guitar and what does the label say: Yairi Gakki, S. Yairi or Sada Yairi?
